Major Contributors to Stress at Workplaces:

Workplace stress can arise from various factors, and its impact on employees’ well-being and overall productivity is a significant concern for organizations. Employee wellness goes beyond traditional healthcare benefits, encompassing a holistic approach that addresses physical, mental, and social well-being. As businesses acknowledge the interdependency between a healthy workforce and overall organizational success, they are proactively implementing wellness programs and initiatives.

Here we delve into various stress contributors at work:

Task Clarity

Often employees feel confused and struggle in terms of their responsibilities. Proper guidance in the form of training or mentoring, whether practical (how to use a specific tool) or goal-oriented (what the end objective of a project is) is fundamental for employees to get the job done. Employees struggle to determine priorities or set smart goals without proper clarity in work.

Leadership Style

It is often said that “employees quit bosses, not jobs”. A poor management style can enhance employee stress massively. Explaining every nut and bolt of one’s daily task deliverables is exhausting. In the longer run, it makes the employee feel incompetent and unskilled.

Zero Social Support

To thrive, employees require effective collaboration along with individual contributions. When competition is high and one’s performance is always compared to peers, a lack of confidence and lethal relationships arise where colleagues may perceive each other as rivals rather than collaborators which affects productivity and takes time to resolve quickly.

An inadequate number of employees increases workloads on the existing employees’ creating a stressful environment.
